Yesterday my good friend Karel wrote another episode in a series of articles on privacy, data retention and security. It started with a single article. However his thoughts and insights evolved and several incidents and announcements provoked him to add material. So here we are now, six articles later, the series is getting shape. The linked article sums it up and provides links to the other articles where appropriate. This is good reading for the security and privacy aware citizen that you ought to be. The article can be found here. Direct links to all articles can be found below.

Today my eye spotted a nice gadget on sale at Aldi’s in the newspaper. It is a digital notepad. Well digital, you write on actual paper using a pen with real ink. All your strokes on the paper are stored in memory. Vector by vector. It has 32MB memory to store pages. You can use an SD card to extend that memory. You get the digital notepad. One pen. Two refills. Two plastic refills. Loads of (windows only) software. Best feature: batteries included, you are ready to go…

Nope. No post today. I’m on strike. Just like the writers associated with the Writers Guild of America (both East and West). Since the 5th of November they are on strike for a fair share of the profits made by redistributing the works based on their writing. Now anarchy is upon us. Bloggers on strike… see the funny video. We demand more webdings. Now.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Funny ad-sense advertisements should pop-up somewhere. That was also the reason I included the ads in the first place. And it is already paying off. Not in a monetary way but we’re “cashing in” in the fun department. In the previous post called “Disappointed beady eyed animals” I have some pictures of cute, sad looking, disappointed animals that need a good hug. However my good buddy Karel got the following advertisement…

So apparently we are supposed to hunt down the sad beady eyed animals. We’re going to hunt them down until they have no where to go and then we shoot them. Slaughter them. Kill them all. Die! Die animal with eyes of sorrow. DIE!
Thanks Karel for this great screenshot! If anyone gets other crazy stuff I love to hear about it.

Another round of photo hunting on the internet. This time I was looking for disappointed animals. I got a tremendous load of image hits on this. I selected some of the most disappointed creatures. I really would hate to get a look like this from one of my pet animals… makes me feel guilty of a horrible crime.

It’s not in my nature to gloat. However today I have to. You, my friend, are a Loser! All of you! You hard-working, back-breaking morons. You get up before dawn. Spend a good deal of your life in traffic jams to get to work and work your asses to the bone. And for what? For a small pay and a mortgage debt bigger than the sun. You are all losers! Excuse me for my behavior. I used to be one of you. I used to be an underpaid corporate slave. But I leave those days behind me. What? No, not because of the google ads. That is just for fun, to see how ad-sense matches up ads to words in the post. The reason is a mail I got last friday. My ticket to wealth and happiness…

Still not happy about the blog theme. This is supposed to look like a semi transparent glass thingy. But apart from the visual changes the most important change is the extra wide article space.
I’m not too fond of the font yet. So expect more changes in the near future…

I’ve been known to play a game or two. All time gaming favorites are Ms. PacMan, PacMan, Galaga, Donkey Kong Jr., Burgertime, Galaxian and later on Tetris. Yes indeed, today people refer to my favorites as “old shit” but I don’t care. Although I liked gaming and played a lot I really never was much of a gaming hero. I did well but was never exceptionally good at any game. I could have been on tetris but I abandoned it before I got hooked. Now watch this Japanese guy play tetris…

Good buddy Basilisk was checking the temperatures in Alert, Canada. The most northern part should be the coldest. And indeed with temperatures around -27oC it is cold. But this is only the beginning. Check the forecasts… hell is going to freeze over. With temperatures going down to 0K everything will come to a halt….

“Beter goed gejat dan slecht bedacht” is een veelgehoorde uitspraak. Het idee is dan wel dat de nieuwere versie beter is dan de oude. Er moet wel iets extra’s in gestopt worden. We willen uiteindelijk een beetje meer. Niet minder. Gelijkwaardig is misschien aanvaardbaar. Maar zeker niet minder. Vooral niet minder. Dus waar slaat dit dan in hemelsnaam op? Dit is je reinste plaginaatje

A rather old, very funny confrontation on a radio show. I heard this months ago but I still love this. Woman calls in, thinks her husband is cheating (is a snake). Radio guy and the woman (Jasmin) prepare a trap for her husband. Radio guy calls husband…. listen to this.

Yesterday I wandered downtown. Clear blue skies with a chilly wind. I noticed some girls wearing sunglasses. These were big sunglasses. When I say big sunglasses I actually mean huge sunglasses. I did notice some celebrities on TV wearing fashionably large shades but when you see those shades in real life it really is something else. Covering up more of their faces makes some people actually look more handsome, but come on! What is this all about? I walked on and came across more girls wearing portable satellite dish eyewear. This inspired me to browse the net and collect some of these humongous shades.
