Both sides work the public for support of their point of view and get quite agitated about it. But ummmm.. Since when should scientific theories be decided by the public based on which theory is more popular? Wonder if Poppe considered this.. Maybe we can launch a new mathematical theory that 1+1 equals 3, and get massive support for it, so that it becomes the truth? I'm a great fan of democracy. But not in this case.
