Google shell kicks ass

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Sure we all visited the google search engine to find some stuff on the internet. It’s a webapp albeit a simple one. You can type your search query and than you have to move the mouse and click shit. Next page. Next page. Click on one of the search results.

Point and click may be your thing but I’m a hardcore commandline junkie. And although I never thought of the concept of accessing a search engine through a commandline it actually works pretty well. Try for yourself. Over at goosh.org you’ll find the unofficial Google shell. Thanks Karel for pointing me towards this. I have a new homepage.

Mac OS X security guides

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

There is some nice documentation released for all people who want to ‘harden’ their Mac OS X installation. Apple released its own document to make Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) more secure. You can find the guide from Apple here. A few days earlier the center for internet security released its own guide. It contains detailed instructions for implementing the steps necessary for CIS Level-I & 2 security on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). The guide from CIS can be downloaded through here (crappy registration required).
