Yes, you read the title correct: the EU SUCKS big time! In june 2008 the European Commission will present their new anti discrimination policy for employment. It will move us back several decades in time since discrimination based on age, religion and sexual orientation are no longer part of the anti discrimination policy. The new policy will forbid discrimination based only on race, sex (like the old policy) and adds handicap to it. Why are the other three grounds removed? Because in this form it’s more likely that the policy will be accepted by the EU members. Excuse me? The countries that recently joined the EU already accept the existing policies, right? Present the discrimination based on handicap as an addendum to the existing policy. That way the existing policy will be kept in place. I think it is outrageous that the EU removes such essential grounds from the policy. The European Union SUCKS!
