Afgelopen zondag was het prachtig weer. Echt weer om erop uit te trekken. Maar ik had geen zin om eerst met de auto ergens heen te rijden dus ik heb mijn vaste rondje gelopen. Ik dacht erover om het fototoestel thuis te laten want wat zou ik nou voor bijzonders tegen komen op het vaste rondje? Achteraf ben ik blij dat ik het fototoestel wel heb meegenomen want de waterlelies stonden in bloei. Er was zelfs een waterjuffer te vinden en natuurlijk veel meerkikkers die in Noord Holland talrijk zijn. Het is een geluk dat ik beide kikkers op één foto heb want ze waren nog geen seconde bij elkaar. Zo zie je maar: er is altijd wat te zien als je er voor open staat.
Oh tijd voor een lekker stuk muziek. “Where do you think you’re going?” is naar mijn mening één van de betere nummers van Dire Straits. Het nummer staat op het tweede studio album van Dire Staits “Communiqué”. Deze opname komt uit het Duitse muziekprogramma “Rock Palast” uit 1979.
Zie de gebroeders Knopfler in actie en let vooral op het briljante gitaarspel van Mark Knopfler. Hij moet wel één van de beste gitaristen ter wereld zijn. Maar vlak Jan Akkerman ook niet uit…

Oh alright a few days ago I wrote how I like the muscial parodies of Weird Al Yankovic. And I remembered seeing a video of Al doing Bob Dylan. A parody on Subterranean Homesick Blues. Now I really love most of the work of Bob Dylan. And to be honest I really like Subterranean Homesick Blues. I think it’s a pretty solid song. I love the line “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows”. Very powerful…. The man is an icon however poking fun, even at icons, is okay in my book. So first watch Bob Dylan:
Politici klagen veelvuldig over de geringe betrokkenheid van de Nederlandse bevolking bij de politiek. Slechts een handjevol neemt de moeite lid te worden van een politieke partij en voor de locale politiek is al helemaal geen belangstelling. Een makkelijk tegenargument is de bewering dat de Nederlandse politiek helemaal nergens over gaat. Belangrijke beslissingen worden altijd op de lange baan geschoven. Denk hierbij aan grote infrastructurele projecten (tweede coentunnel, iemand?) of bijvoorbeeld de aanschaf van nieuwe gevechtsjagers (JSF). Politiek Den Haag heeft voor dergelijke belangrijke zaken aanmerkelijk minder belangstelling dat voor bijvoorbeeld de maximaal toegestane omvang van een petfles. Een ander veelgehoord argument voor de desinteresse in politiek is dat de politiek veel te ver van het volk afstaat. Politici hebben vaak geen flauw benul wat er daadwerkelijk in de samenleving speelt. Zo wist Gerrit Zalm toen hij minister van Financiën was niet eens hoeveel een pak melk kost. “Het vrouwtje doet de boodschappen”…
Maar vandaag is een historische dag. Vandaag worden beide argumenten in één klap van tafel geveegd en dat door niemand minder dan onze eigen Minister President Jan-Peter Balkenende. Balkenende laat niet alleen zien dat de Nederlandse politiek ergens over gaat maar ook dat het gapende gat dat de politiek met de samenleving heeft gedicht is. Aan het eind van zijn wekelijkse persconferentie gaf Balkenende eindelijk zijn mening over de gebeurtenis die Nederland (incluis politiek Den Haag) op de grondvesten heeft doen schudden. Jan-Peter Balkenende blijkt verrast -en betreurt- de breuk tussen Jan Smit en Yolanthe Dingetje Nogwat. Politiek: het gaat weer ergens over!!
I just saw this picture on digg. The title is “The most ironic tattoo you will ever see“. Well ironic may not be the right word but it’s kind a weird, isn’t it? Look at the nose of the shark. It really is a great tattoo, a piece of art. I really don’t know if a shark really bit off his arm or that he forgot to read the manual of the toaster. Love. How beautiful it can be… It’s warm… it’s cozy… you even have the right music to match the romantical moment… cuddling is so good… until you rub her the wrong way.
I always liked the extremely funny musical parodies of Weird Al Yankovic. I recently found out that Weird Al is on twitter. He twitters about all & nothing. So read about how he has been recording some new songs in the studio. I especially like the photos he’s making. For instance 9 days ago he met RayManzarek, the legendary keyboard player/composer from The Doors… Who doesn’t love the brilliant organ solo in “Break on through” and “Light my Fire”?
And look-a-here who he has also met… captain Kirk. Oh boy, how exciting life is when you ride the rollercoaster instead of watching it from the ground. There’s even a picture of Al cutting himself while shaving… how’s that for glamour?
Mayday… Mayday… the vehicle that tried to spread FUD (fear, uncertainty & doubt) in the open unix community is going down… The demise of SCO is neigh… Many times investors have tried to keep the warship afloat but this time it’s going down for good.

My World of Warcraft character “Creamfudge” was bored out of his mind from fishing northern sculpin to fulfill his everlasting hunger for fish feasts… My bobber was bobbing so time to pull up my fishing rod and catch the loot… and there it was. The glorious sound of another achievement I’d won. What was it? Caught 10.000 fish? Is there such an achievement? Then I read the achievement notification and it said “Turtles All the Way Down”. Oh my goodness!! The sea turtle mount… Oh boy. Had to try it immediately…. walks slow on land but swims like a speedboat.
Update: Since patch 3.1 the Sea Turtle is no longer soulbound!

Ik ben zaterdagavond naar het strand gegaan. Waarom niet? Het was prachtig weer en met een beetje geluk zou ik getracteerd worden op een prachtige zonsondergang. Ik heb de zon wel zien verdwijnen. Niet achter de horizon maar achter een enorm dreigend wolkenfront. Zover ik weet is het aanstormende slechte weer niet aan land gekomen.
Hoe dan ook het was een prachtige avond…
