Oh I had to work this weekend. Well actually a lot of people had to come in and work one or more shifts over the weekend. I did one (long) shift. I also had to come in early the next day. So wandering the desolate hallways I decided to make some pictures of how we trashed the place up… well… be glad I didn’t take pictures on sunday. I also saw a nice example of password secrecy: a post-it note, attached to the frontpanel of a monitor, containing a userid and a password. I blurred them in the photo but they were there for everyone to see.

Oh how tragic. Willy DeVille (leadsigner of the band Mink DeVille) died at the age 58 of cancer. Who could have thought that a disease would finally bring him to his knees. Rest in peace and thanks for all the great music. Willy DeVille will be missed.

Oh yeah. Look at this… I haven’t seen this one for a while: I’ve got a limited pressing of a Thin Lizzy 12″ vinyl. Only 7500 copies are pressed & distributed. I don’t think mine is worth much anymore since it has been played so many times. It really is in bad shape.

To me it is worth a million since it was the first introduction to the wonderful music of Thin Lizzy the legendary Irish hardrock band led by Phil Lynott. They mixed traditional Irish music with hardrock and created a unique and distinct sound. Many well-known musicians have played in Thin Lizzy. Gary Moore, Snowy White, Scott Gorham, Brian Downey, John Sykes etc.

Enjoy and check out this wonderful band. You’ll love it when you like a little guitar every now & then…

Ah ik weet het: ik heb vaak flauwe gedachten. Ik weet niet waar ze vandaan komen maar plotseling zit er een idee in mijn hoofd dat me amuseert. En ik weet dat het niet leuk is om daadwerkelijk uit te voeren. Dus dat doe ik dan ook niet omdat je iemand echt heel erg kunt irriteren of misschien enorm kunt dwarsbomen… maar het is zo simpel.. zo eenvoudig… en zo gemeen…

Wat nu als je een paar fietssloten koopt en daarmee een willekeurige fiets op slot zet?

Van wie is de fiets? Hoe reageert die persoon als blijkt dat zijn fiets gekaapt is? Wat gaat hij doen? Betonschaar halen? Politie bellen? Komen die?

Nu is het meestal zo dat wat je bedenkt al veel eerder door anderen is bedacht… op internet heb ik twee slachtoffers gevonden. Een daarvan heeft zijn fiets aan een rek vastgezet van een ander waarop de eigenaar van het rek een extra slot om de fiets heeft gelegd. De ander vond zijn fiets geketend voor het apartementen complex en vraagt hoe hij dat specifieke type slot op kan maken en of iemand het voor hem kan doen. Waarop de commenters natuurlijk zeggen “ah je bedoelt: who wants to help me to steal a bike”. Een commenter is grappig (en waarschijnlijk een Seinfeld fan):

En ik weet dat het niet leuk is… maar heel stiekem denk ik wel eens aan zoiets als dit. Alleen denken aan he? Nooit doen….
