Promotion: Technical Theo

Oh this is a dream come true: I finally got promoted. Where I work I’m part of a large department. To allow people to get acquainted they introduced a who-is-who directory where you can lookup people by name. There’s even a photograph for facial recognition.

After being urged to submit my information and photo by email I entered my information and included a photoshopped (actually “gimped”) photograph where I gave myself large dark alien eyes. Since I figured my submission would be rejected anyway I entered my function to be “SME / Technical Theo”. To my big surprise the entry was copied verbatim into the directory including the photo. So now it’s official: I’m a Technical Theo at last… and an alien. Now I wish I’d put down “MacGyver” as function…

    I’m not allowed to discuss StarCraft II in public but you remember my photo and you will be struck by a sudden flash of recognition when you start playing StarCraft II :-D

    Oh man! Ya know! Where Ed works, it’s quite large eh!! This guy actually works as a Senior Technical Theo Technician First Class in the engineering section of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) eh!

    It’s not as big as that “moon” in the Alderaan system where I used to work tho! ;-)

    Oh, and hey Ed, why the blurred out face? fraid people might start recognizin ya on em street!? Next time send a picture to the “who’s who” with a black anonymizer bar in front of yer eyes haha ;-)

    Hij sloopt je basis waar je bij staat, maar daar weet jij alles van Bart…..

    (on het gesprek maar weer even terug te brengen op StarCraft…)

    Heeft iemand die saved game nog? Het was inderdaad zo ontzettend grappig dat ik ‘m nog wel eens wil zien. Maar eerlijk is eerlijk: Bart heeft uiteindelijk die SCV wel gesloopt. Weliswaar pas nadat hij een kwartier nodig had om te ontdekken waarom zijn computer steeds “Your base is under attack” bleef zeggen.
