Het hoopgevende van het eind van de duisternis en het gloren van nieuw licht.

Sometimes something from the past pops back into your mind. This morning I remembered a beautiful song I heard through YouTube. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t remember the name of the performing artist. A search on “beautiful song from a guy whos name I can’t remember” didn’t yield anything useful. Just as I was about to give up I remembered I put the song in a playlist or something.
After logging in to YouTube the entry was there… and the video was also still there. I played it over and over again and still love it. Especially the lines “I should have seen ‘Let’s just be friends’ coming a mile away. I think I’d rather have heard the disappointing truth” and “You’re the one who got scared and backed off when we did not fit just like a glove”…

Yesterday my good friend Sander showed me a video about a new BMW prototype called “GINA”. The skin of the car is made from a fabric that folds and bends and allows the car to morph. Take a look at this movie. See how the car morphs. See how the door opens. At least watch at 02:24 where they show the headlights…. NICE!!
Soms heb je zo’n moment van onverklaarbare sentimentaliteit. Vroeger was alles beter, toch? In zo’n vlaag van verstandsverbijstering ging ik weer eens door mijn LP collectie, althans dat gedeelte dat niet hermetisch afgesloten is van de buitenwereld achter knieschotten en dat soort verstopplaatsen.
In de loop der tijd heb ik de meeste LP’s vervangen door exemplaren op CD. U weet wel, in die tijd dat platenmaatschappijen nog niet klaagden en dankbaar de consument een tweede keer rechten liet betalen voor dezelfde muziek omdat die toevallig op een ander medium stond. Maar lang niet alle LPs zijn vervangen en vandaag kwam ik er zo een tegen. Een volledig kapot gedraaide plaat van Amos Milburn die ik vermoedelijk, ik was amper 8 denk ik, van mijn vader heb gekregen. Ik heb geen platenspeler meer aangesloten staan dus de plaat opzetten was geen optie. Dan maar naar YouTube, stelt nooit teleur: Amos Milburn. Wacht maar tot hij echt piano gaat spelen (bij 02:16 ongeveer).

Obama? Clinton? No, no, no. This is not about the democratic candidate election this is about important stuff. Last night the Webby Awards winners were announced. As you might know my good friend Sander was nominated with his excellent Rube Goldberg machine viral for Hema.
Now is a good time to put on your party hats: Sander has WON THE WEBBY!!

On the third of april my good buddy Sander won an award for his flash animation of a Rube Goldberg machine. Saturday the 5th of april the national Rube Goldberg machine contest 2008 was held. The goal was to create a machine that assembles a hamburger in as many steps as possible. The winner was a team from Purdue University.
Vorig jaar november liet mijn goede vriend Sander zijn nieuwste creatie zien. Een Rube Goldberg machine gemaakt voor de Hema. Deze prachtige animatie is genomineerd voor een Spin Award en deze zijn gisteren in de Heineken Music Hall uitgereikt. Sander heeft zilver gewonnen in de categorie “beste online campagne”. GEFELICITEERD Sander!!
Sander mocht met anderen op het podium de prijs in ontvangst nemen. Helaas geen directe link. Even op nummer 6 klikken (06. beste online campagne). Sander heeft een groen/beige T-shirt aan.

I’ve seen many of these images before somewhere on the net. Some of them wrapped in a silly powerpoint presentation or even a video. The artist who created this fine art is Julian Beever, an artist from Belgium. Enjoy these great pieces of artwork. I love the coke bottle.
