Source found of U2 leaked songs

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

Bono and U2 were pissed as hell. Before they had the new record (called ‘No Line On The Horizon’ for those who care) in store some songs were already leaked to the internet. Bono was stampeding with rage. “What bloody motherf*cker leaked our f*cking tunes?!!”. He called all personnel together. No one was to leave before the leak was found. And ohh boy… was that guy going to get hurt. Bono would dismember his balls for leaking the songs. Imagine all countermeasures that are taken to prevent leaks. All personnel is screened. Recordings are stored encrypted. Only Bono knows the passphrase. Who ever leaked the songs did this on purpose, so much Bono knew for sure…. And finally the source of the leak was found. Get the tweezers out… Bono will never sound the same, some people would say he sings about three tones higher.

Videogame bugs galore

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Here’s a nice compilation of hilarious bugs in various computer games. The trend is towards realistic physics so characters are not pre-rendered but drawn based on the physical model of the game. Not all game programmers are Einsteins.

The Colbert Report honours George Carlin

Now I think George Carlin would have loved this silly tribute to his work… eh… to death…
Stephen Colbert pays tribute in his own funny way…

World of World of Warcraft

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Bijzonder geestige link, zojuist ontvangen van goede vriend Jos, naar een video op YouTube. Blizzard heeft zojuist een nieuwe episode gelanceerd in de World of Warcraft serie: World of World of Warcraft. Het is nu al zo een succes dat men inmiddels ook al is begonnen aan de opvolger “World of World of World of Warcraft”… :-D

“My avatar is the biggest World of Warcraft fan in the whole World of World of Warcraft World”

Windows Vista security

Monday, May 26th, 2008

So you got the brand-new windows rendition? Are you feeling secure now that you run the most secure windows ever? Well take a look at this and wonder how come Microsoft just doesn’t understand security. In this case priviliges are assigned based on a filename (Utilman.exe). So what happens when you rename another binary to Utilman.exe? Take a look and laugh your ass off. I’ve said it many times before and I will repeat it over and over again: Microsoft sucks!! They really don’t get security, they really don’t.

Here’s your video. Be careful I almost forgot to breathe while laughing. Hats off to the guys at offensive security. You almost killed me with this.

Backtrack is a live linux distro. You can boot it on any system to get a full working linux environment. That is used to copy the cmd.exe to Utilman.exe

Streetview biker falls from bike

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Now here’s a nice streetview discovery. A dude is riding his bicycle down the street where the Google streetview camera car is taking pictures. Unfortunately for the biker he falls and is captured on photo while doing so.

Here’s the biker on his bike oblivious of the embarrassment that awaits him.

Value-added bullshit generator

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Do you have to write up those non-sense “say nothing” corporate statements? After ten of those do you run out of bullshit? Then this is for you! My good buddy Karel Kubat created a bullshit generator for all our enjoyment. You can download the software and datafile and write up your own value-added, synergy enhancing strategy to focus on your target channels while leveraging on maximization of your core-business bullshit!

Hit me again!

Here’s an example:

Last month, we, Microsoft, ventured into great new territory. It is my
honourable duty to inform you about the new mission statement.

  • Realize excellence for our core business
  • Designing processes that enable strategic growth in inter-departmental
    synergy
  • Consolidate services of our company
  • Realize excellence for global operations

I’ve been Rickrolled (twice now)

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

So far I ignored Rickrolling, you know the phenomenon, instead of watching something you expect you suddenly see Rick Astley appear with his “never gonna give you up” shit-tune. Most of the Rickrolling that is going on is not funny since they just link to the music video on YouTube. I don’t consider that to be funny. Today my buddy Emiel showed me that Rickrolls can be cool. Here is an excellent example. It’s a mod for doom. Rickroll me once, shame on you, Rickroll me twice shame on me. In this case I Rickrolled myself to death.

We all know one…

I came across this “motivational poster” on the internet yesterday and saved it. This morning I opened it again and I still liked it… so why not post it here?

Going back in time…

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Now this struck me as a joke however this is dead serious. A German publishing company (Random House, part of the Bertelsmann group) is going to print & release the German Wikipedia on paper. Who in their right minds would want a fully cross-indexed, clickable online encyclopedia on dead paper?

I really feel this is a step in the wrong direction. We have to move away from publishing and printing on paper anyway. I do realize that a lot of people still prefer paper version of documents and books but an encyclopedia is all about references and links. Just click and you’re there!

Would you buy a static, dead version of wikipedia on paper?

Ring of the lords

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Oh this is cool in a geeky kind of way. I’m not the marrying kind however I could be suckered into marriage by a set of these rings. Please don’t disturb me as I’m dailing random phone numbers popping the question to every woman who answers the phone. Meanwhile you can order your set of wedding rings right here.

Chantagefoto’s PalmInvest

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

IBM getting ready for Macs

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Now this is nice. IBM piloted using Macs in the IBM office. Currently IBM uses Microsoft Windows. The users are very positive (no surprise here). Not all users were that happy. One of the Mac pilot users visited customers offsite. His remark: “When presenting at customer or external meetings, I have been greeted with the ‘wow factor.’ ‘Where’s the ThinkPad, IBM uses Apples now?’”. Most pilot users (19 out of 22) wanted to keep the Mac for their daily business. This was despite some software that they needed but didn’t work on their Macs:

  • IBM’s own DB2 database and Websphere application server
  • IBM’s Rational Application Developer IDE for J2EE apps
  • IBM’s WebSphere Integration Developer SOA development tool
  • support for IBM’s InfoPrint workgroup laser printers
  • Microsoft Visio diagraming software and NetMeeting video conferencing tool

This article has some nice quotes from the pilot users. Way to go IBM! Give it a positive swing: “Mac OS X the best alternative for OS/2″.
