Vindt u vegetariërs ook van die buitengewoon onaangename, pedante en vervelende zeurpieten? Dat vinden ze bij restaurant “De Teerkamer” aan de grote markt in Bergen op Zoom ook…
Een knus etentje op de zondagavond als toetje op een leuke dag. Het altijd pittoreske Bergen op Zoom ontving ons met open armen. Niet voor niets is de binnenstad van Bergen op Zoom twee jaar geleden (2007) tot beste binnenstad van Nederland verkozen. Het blijft me verbazen hoe ongenadig hard aftakeling kan toeslaan in slechts twee jaar tijd 
De selectie van de eetgelegenheid werd grotendeels bepaald door de noodzaak tot het bezoeken van een toiletgelegenheid. We liepen op de grote markt en het pand van “De Teerkamer” zag er prachtig uit en drong zich op gelijk de biologische behoefte. Buiten voor het terras stond een reclame bord met daarop voorgedrukt “onze aanbeveling” en daaronder ruimte om met een krijtje de aanbeveling op te schrijven. Blanco. Geen aanbeveling. Doorlopen? De menukaart hing, conform de verplichting, buiten aan de gevel. Het enige criterium was dat er ook vegetarisch gegeten kon worden. Er pronkten drie vegetarische gerechten op de kaart. Snel naar binnen.
Binnen zag het er hip & trendy uit. Steekwoorden: strak en paars. Kortom de ideale gelegenheid voor een sanitaire stop. De keuze in vegetarische gerechten is niet erg groot (drie). Alle soepen bleken op basis van vleesbouillion of vlees te bevatten. De vegetarische keuze was snel gemaakt: vegetarische schnitzel en de gegrillde groente spies.
Het duurde niet lang voordat onze gerechten geserveerd werden. “Eeewww er ligt spek op mijn bord” hoor ik een geschrokken stem zeggen. Dat zal toch niet? Ja echt wel!
Er lag een ‘stapeltje’ sperziebonen haricots vert op het bord waar spek omheen gewikkeld was. Bij een vegetarisch gerecht…

Jaaaaaaa…. maaar…… dat is bij de groente!!
Oh ja. Zolang als er geen spek bij het vlees zit is het in orde? Of wordt verwacht dat we de groente sowieso laten staan? Of moeten we gewoon niet zo zeuren?
Vegetarische boontjes met spek… zucht… diepe zucht…

You will get all downloadable versions… so one for Windows (why would I want that?) & one for Mac OS X & even the versions for Linux. I’ve donated $1.00 for the game and it makes me feel like a cheap ass but I think that’s the whole meaning of the birthday sale. I think you can donate as less as $0.01 to get the game but I didn’t try it out myself.
So if you want it rush over here before october 19.
Oh I had to work this weekend. Well actually a lot of people had to come in and work one or more shifts over the weekend. I did one (long) shift. I also had to come in early the next day. So wandering the desolate hallways I decided to make some pictures of how we trashed the place up… well… be glad I didn’t take pictures on sunday. I also saw a nice example of password secrecy: a post-it note, attached to the frontpanel of a monitor, containing a userid and a password. I blurred them in the photo but they were there for everyone to see.
Oh this is nice. My good friend Jos provided me the link below. Microsoft’s attempt at an internet search engine is called Bing. They registered a lot of bing.<tld> domains.. but not all… not all… Here’s Bing Liechtenstein. Thanks Jos for providing this link.

Wired.com has a nice (fictional) write-up on the shooting of the upcoming world of warcraft movie. The idea is that the extra’s in the movie are actual WoW-players… sooo… here’s what you get when you release a group of wow-players into the real world of movie shooting. Very recognizable (and funny).
There are extras goofing off everywhere, but it takes an hour of asking around to get a group of 10 of them together to shoot a scene. And then, just when we’re about to start filming, one of them suddenly has to leave because his mother needs him to clean his room or something.

Oh this is a dream come true: I finally got promoted. Where I work I’m part of a large department. To allow people to get acquainted they introduced a who-is-who directory where you can lookup people by name. There’s even a photograph for facial recognition.
After being urged to submit my information and photo by email I entered my information and included a photoshopped (actually “gimped”) photograph where I gave myself large dark alien eyes. Since I figured my submission would be rejected anyway I entered my function to be “SME / Technical Theo”. To my big surprise the entry was copied verbatim into the directory including the photo. So now it’s official: I’m a Technical Theo at last… and an alien. Now I wish I’d put down “MacGyver” as function…
