Oooh remember the band Madness? I used to love most of their songs. Some of them got a bit stale over time.. well maybe it’s because I may have evolved a bit since then… who knows… Anyway…. I recently had to think of a song that I really loved. I think this is possibly one of their best songs… “The Sun & The Rain”. It is an upbeat tune while the lyrics are kind of sad. Very odd combination but works very well. This is also the last song Mike Barson wrote for Madness before he left in 1984, although he later joined to write “Ghost train”, the farewell-single (in 1986)…. Enjoy…
Vandaag zou Herman Brood 63 jaar geworden zijn…

I got the music of the band Bright Eyes from Annemieke (thanks for that) and decided to search for it on YouTube and found this great video. In the video you’ll see people as they listen to the song. I think this is a great concept. But decide for yourself…. and enjoy the great music.
Oooh nee toch.. “accordion”…. denk je bij accordionmuziek ook aan geforceerd lachend vrolijk meezwierende pippo’s die oubollige deuntjes staan te trekken? Moet je dit eens zien… nee echt…
Vivaldi – de vier jaargetijden – zomer…. op een accordion…. kick ass kid!
Link gevonden via de twitter van Jewel Kilcher.
Oh how tragic. Willy DeVille (leadsigner of the band Mink DeVille) died at the age 58 of cancer. Who could have thought that a disease would finally bring him to his knees. Rest in peace and thanks for all the great music. Willy DeVille will be missed.

Oh yeah. Look at this… I haven’t seen this one for a while: I’ve got a limited pressing of a Thin Lizzy 12″ vinyl. Only 7500 copies are pressed & distributed. I don’t think mine is worth much anymore since it has been played so many times. It really is in bad shape.
To me it is worth a million since it was the first introduction to the wonderful music of Thin Lizzy the legendary Irish hardrock band led by Phil Lynott. They mixed traditional Irish music with hardrock and created a unique and distinct sound. Many well-known musicians have played in Thin Lizzy. Gary Moore, Snowy White, Scott Gorham, Brian Downey, John Sykes etc.
Enjoy and check out this wonderful band. You’ll love it when you like a little guitar every now & then…

This morning I got a nice video from Jeroen in my mailbox, thanks a lot for that. The same video is available through YouTube. Crank up the sound and enjoy the sweet summer rain…
King”. Deze opname is gemaakt op 75 jarige leeftijd.
Now this is actually a nice effort to do something new from the music scene. Today (20 july 2009) it is 40 years ago that Neil Armstrong & Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin set foot on the moon. To commemorate this event (and to earn a buck or two) David Bowie released tracks on the iTunes store. These contains the individual recording tracks from the “Space Oddity” song. So now you can make your own remix from these eight tracks. There is an application for the iPhone or you can use any other music editor (Garageband for example) to make your own mix…. I think this is a nice idea.
Want more acoustic guitar? Crank it up? Depending on your creativity you can even replace or add tracks in your own mix. Go creative… go wild… info here.
Oh my… who would have thought… Today I talked to a buddy at work and his voice sounded really bad… Bad as in “Tom Waits with a soar throat”-bad. Described by critic Daniel Durchholz as sounding “like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car.” Well no, it wasn’t that bad… it was worse… he sounded more like Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead.
So I just assumed he had been drinking more than Heineken can produce on one night. For a minute I thought of making a joke referring to his “grunting“-days… but with the weekend almost here I didn’t want to risk a serious beating… So I just let it be. Maybe he was coming down with a cold or something harmless…
So I checked his blog and I learned his old metalband is back together to record some demo’s of their best songs… He has been grunting after all!! On his blog he refers to his voice as sounding like Lemmy as well! I hope he doesn’t mind I link to the homepage of his band Hectic… ROCK ON!! I hope the demo’s will be made available when they are done.
Oh tijd voor een lekker stuk muziek. “Where do you think you’re going?” is naar mijn mening één van de betere nummers van Dire Straits.
Okay here’s a really funny video. Sure you’ve seen all the raps to order at drive-thru fast-food joints… But these guys do it in a folk song…. and… they get p0wn3d… BIG TIME!!
Oh alright a few days ago I wrote how I like the muscial parodies of Weird Al Yankovic. And I remembered seeing a video of Al doing Bob Dylan. A parody on Subterranean Homesick Blues. Now I really love most of the work of Bob Dylan. And to be honest I really like Subterranean Homesick Blues. I think it’s a pretty solid song. I love the line “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows”. Very powerful…. The man is an icon however poking fun, even at icons, is okay in my book. So first watch Bob Dylan:
Oh this is very nice. I just came across this geek hack that plays the Super Mario tune using the stepper motor of a laser cutter. Now they actually use both axis. One for the tune the other for the bass parts. A truly amazing hack found through hackday.com. Even the ruby source code is available through the link.
