R.I.P. Netscape Navigator

All who witnessed the birth of the world wide web will remember the good old Netscape Navigator browser. For the young people: that was before Microsoft Internet Explorer and before Al Gore claimed he invented the internet. Oh well… Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.6 is the last version that AOL will release. The end-of-life version of Navigator will prompt users to switch to Firefox or Flock. R.I.P. Netscape Navigator.

Mozilla marches on

A couple of days ago Xiti Monitor, a French web survey company, published browser penetration figures over 2007. Mozilla Firefox gains a marketshare of 28%. Most of the new Firefox users favored Firefox over Internet Explorer.

Now this makes me wonder what the readers of this blog are using. Since today is the start of a new month lets take a look at the statistics for January 2008. I only checked visits, so only page hits that have an outside (or empty) referer. So we don’t count all the clicks a user makes only when he enters the site.
